DAVID THROWER
President and CEO
David has over 20 years of experience at successful medical device companies which have both significant professional and consumer market overlap. Prior to joining BAROnova, David was President and CEO of Asante Solutions, a medical device company that developed and launched an innovative insulin pump for people with diabetes. Additionally, he served as CEO of InSound Medical, a manufacturer of a market-disruptive hearing aid system that was acquired by Sonova Holding AG. David also held leadership roles with Align Technologies, manufacturer of Invisalign, BioSource International, ReSound Medical, Quattro Consulting, and Bain & Company. David earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his MBA from the Harvard Business School.

WENKANG QI
Chief Operations Officer
Wen has over 20 years of experience in medical device development, manufacturing and commercialization. Prior to joining BAROnova, Wen was the Chief Technical Officer and Vice President of R&D of Clarity Medical Systems, a medical device company that developed and commercialized ophthalmological systems for retina imaging and cataract surgery. Wen’s extensive experience includes Vice President of R&D at Asante Solutions, where he developed and launched an innovative insulin pump, VasoNova (acquired by Teleflex) which developed an innovative vascular catheter positioning system, and Director of Engineering at Zonare, (acquired by Mindray). Wen started his career with GE Medical Systems, where he earned his Six Sigma Black Belt. Wen has a B.S. and M.S. from Tsinghua University and Ph.D. from Penn State with all degrees in Biomedical Engineering.

LIAN CUNNINGHAM, M.D., Ph.D.
Vice President, Clinical Affairs & Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Cunningham brings with her a wealth of experience in leading clinical and regulatory programs. Before joining BAROnova, she served as the Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Guided Delivery Systems, Inc., a structural heart medical device company developing a Class III cardiac implant. Prior to that, she held a variety of clinical leadership positions including Medical Director and Vice President of Clinical Affairs at TriReme Medical, Inc., and Medical Director and Vice President of Clinical Research and Education at VNUS Medical Technologies, Inc., (acquired by Covidien). She was also previously an assistant professor at Loyola University of Chicago and a practicing vascular surgeon in Shanghai, China.

KOBI IKI, M.S.
Vice President, Research and Development
Kobi has over 20 years of experience in the medical-device industry directing research programs in oncology, cardiovascular, orthopedics and obesity. Before joining BAROnova, he served as the Vice President of Research for Leptos Biomedical, a company developing a neuromodulation therapy for obesity. Preceding that, Kobi held various management and senior executive positions of increasing responsibility at Miravant Medical Technologies, Corvascular, Oratec Interventions (acquired by Smith + Nephew Endoscopy), and Vascular Architects. Kobi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara and a Masters in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University.

DAVID CARNER
Vice President of Quality Assurance
David brings 30 years of broad Quality and R&D experience from successful medical device companies to BAROnova. Previously David served as the Vice President of Quality Assurance at Dexcom where he worked on the Gen 4 and Gen 5 Continuous Glucose Monitoring systems. David has a rich history as an executive in QA and has held senior leadership positions in R&D with large, multi-national organizations including Abbott Vascular, Guidant and Pacesetter. He also has experience in smaller venture backed companies including Broncus Technologies, where he helped the organization transition from a R&D facility to commercial operations. David received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas, Arlington.

BREN KERN
Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations
Bren has more than 15 years of experience scaling manufacturing operations in healthcare companies with advanced technologies. Prior to joining BAROnova, Bren served as the Director of Operations for Bigfoot Biomedical, combining insulin pump technology with continuous glucose monitoring to create a closed loop insulin delivery system. Previous experience includes Director of Manufacturing at Asante Solutions, where he transitioned insulin pump production from R&D to full commercial scale and Velocity 11 (acquired by Agilent Technologies) where he held various manufacturing and operations leadership positions. Bren holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology.
